About Us

BC Beatz was founded in 2013 by local Geelong dancers & friends Megan Blyszak and Cat Yee. Blysz and Cat have been dancing together since 2002 and have competed in State & National Hip Hop Competitions together.

BC Beatz was founded to provide the Geelong and surrounding region with a fun and friendly dance school dedicated to Hip Hop. BC Beatz offers both recreational and competitive Hip Hop Classes and welcomes all students to come and try at any time.

Blysz and Cat are looking forward to an exciting and fun filled 2021, and officially welcome Kenzie to our teaching team!

Blysz began gymnastics at the ripe old age of 4yrs where she flipped her way to level 8, before moving onto hip hop, soccer and pole dancing. Blysz made it to the top 60 dancers in So You Think You Can Dance season 1 and made semifinals on Australia’s Got Talent. Her crew, Urban Chaos were also crowned FISAF National Hip Hop Champions in both 2010 and 2011, as well as representing Australia at the FISAF World hip hop championships in 2011! When she’s not teaching, bending it like Beckham or hanging upside down on a pole at Kylie J Pole studio, you’ll find her dancing in the hallways at The Geelong Hospital, where she nurses!

Cat grew up in Geelong and has been dancing since the age of 10. Cat started teaching at age 17 and has since gone on to coach National Champion and National Medallist Hip Hop Teams. Highlights of Cat’s experience include choreographing the VCE Group Dance Routine for Kardinia International College in 2013 & 2011, choreographing the Geelong VET Dance Hip Hop Solo in 2010 and 2015, teaching at the GPAC Poppykettle Festival in 2013, teaching at Lorne P-12 for Youth Mental Health week and teaching a short Hip Hop course at MacKillop Education in 2012. Cat is a Secondary School Teacher, and delivers the Geelong VET Dance Program for Geelong High School and surrounding students.

Kenzie has grown up with dance being a huge part of her life, she started dancing at 3 years old and hasn't stopped since! Kenzie has been a part of the Elite competition team at another local dance school for 11 years and joined BC Beatz in 2019 where she was fortunate enough to be able to compete at Nationals. Kenzie has trained in a diverse range of genres including Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary and her favourites Tap and Hip Hop. Kenzie has had many years of experience successfully competing at competitions in troupes, but also as a soloist. Kenzie completed her VCE VET Dance certificate in 2018. Kenzie's teaching experience is expanding rapidly. In 2020 she was invited to choreograph the VCE VET Hip Hop solo with Cat, as well as the Year 9 Hip Hop program at Belmont High School. Kenzie is currently studying to become an Early Childhood Educator/Primary School Teacher and one day hopes to become a Kindergarten Teacher. Kenzie looks forward to a great year of dance at BC Beatz!
