BC Beatz was founded in 2013 by local Geelong dancers and friends, Megan Blyszak and Cat Yee.

Blysz and Cat had been dancing together since 2002 before Cat decided to hang up the dancing shoes in 2022 leaving BC Beatz in the hands of Blysz and her fellow teachers Phoenix, Shay and assistant Lilia.

BC Beatz was founded to provide the Geelong and surrounding region with a fun and friendly dance school dedicated to Hip Hop.

BC Beatz offers both recreational and competitive Hip Hop Classes and welcomes all students to come and try. Blysz is looking forward to a fun, exciting and successful 2026!

Blysz

Blysz began gymnastics at the ripe old age of 4yrs where she flipped her way to level 8, before moving onto hip hop, soccer and pole dancing. Blysz made it to the top 60 dancers in So You Think You Can Dance season 1 and made the semifinals on Australia’s Got Talent. In 2013, Blysz lead BC Beatz senior hip hop crew to an impressive two National titles, including FISAF Unite Hip Hop Nationals and Schoolaerobics National Championships! When she’s not teaching or hanging upside down on a pole at Kylie J Pole studio, you’ll find her dancing in the hallways at The Geelong Hospital, where she nurses! Blyszak is a proud new momma to her beautiful daughter Sasha and son Maksym who she can't wait to share her love of dance with.

Phoenix

Phoenix started dancing when she was only 2 years old and has been with Beatz for 9 years, this year marking her 5th year as a teacher. Phoenix loves cheering on all the incredible Beatz dancers when they’re on stage and is often the first to lose her voice from cheering at competitions! Watching the dancers grow and thrive on stage is her absolute favourite. Phoenix loves teaching both our competitive and recreational students as well as our tiny tots. Phoenix loves having a boogie with them all! When not in the studio Phoenix works full time at Ripcurl in their head office.

Shaylah

Shaylah has been dancing at BC Beatz for 8 years, starting as a student and now one of our incredible teachers. Shaylah has coached our mega crew BC Bloc to 2 National titles as well as competing as a soloist and a member of our senior competitive crew. Shaylah fell in love with dance when she was younger and found her place here at Beatz where she was, and still is, encouraged and inspired to keep on growing as a dancer.
